Chlorantraniprole is a broad-spectrum insecticide. It has a low aqueous solubility and a low volatility. It tends to be highly persistent in the environment. It is highly toxic to aquatic invertebrates, moderately toxic to birds and aquatic plants, and has a low toxicity to bees and earthworms. Chlorantraniliprole has a low oral mammalian toxicity. This pesticide can rapidly protect rice growth, especially exhibiting remarkable efficacy against pests that have developed resistance to other rice insecticides, such as the rice leaf roller, striped stem borer, rice white-backed planthopper, and pink-borer. It also has good control effects on rice gall midge, rice water weevil, and rice water weevil larvae. Its duration of effectiveness can reach over 15 days, leaving no residue impact on agricultural products, and it has good mixing properties with other pesticides.
