Hexazinone is a triazinone-based herbicide, primarily functioning by inhibiting the Hill reaction of photosynthesis in plants, leading to metabolic disturbances and ultimately plant death. Hexazinone can be absorbed by plant roots and leaves, primarily transported through the xylem. Once it enters the soil, it can be decomposed by soil microorganisms. It is suitable for forestry applications such as forest weed control, young forest tending, creating firebreaks, and non-agricultural land weed control. It effectively controls annual and perennial weeds and shrubs. As a herbicide formulation, it is intended for use in coniferous forests, non-agricultural land, and for creating firebreaks by removing weeds and shrubs. It is harmless to the roots of pine trees.
