Quinclorac can be absorbed by germinating seeds, roots, and leaves, exhibiting characteristics similar to hormonal herbicides and causing symptoms akin to those of auxin-like substances. Affected young leaves of barnyardgrass display slight chlorosis, with longitudinal stripes appearing on the leaves and causing them to bend. The compound exhibits high mobility in soil and can be decomposed by soil microorganisms. It is particularly effective in controlling barnyardgrass in both direct-seeding and transplanted rice fields.
