Bensulfuron-methyl is an systemic and conductive low-toxicity herbicide that inhibits amino acid synthesis. It is suitable for controlling annual and perennial weeds in rice fields and is safe for rice. It can be used in a flexible manner, including through toxic soil, toxic sand, spraying, pouring, and other methods. It has low mobility in the soil, and its herbicidal effect is little affected by temperature and soil texture.

The chronic oral no-effect dose for rats is 750mg/kg. Animal tests have shown no evidence of teratogenicity, carcinogenicity, or mutagenicity. The LC50 for carp is greater than 1000mg/L (48h), and the acute oral LD50 for mallards is greater than 2150mg/kg.
