Trifluralin is a selective pre-emergence soil treatment agent. It is absorbed by weeds as they germinate and push through the soil layer. It is mainly absorbed by the buds of gramineous plants and the hypocotyls of broadleaf plants, and can also be absorbed by cotyledons and young roots, but not by stems and leaves after emergence.
