What is the primary use of Flumetralin?

Flumetralin is primarily used as a plant growth regulator, specifically as a dedicated bud inhibitor for tobacco crops. It acts as both a contact and locally systemic growth retardant, getting absorbed quickly by plants and exerting its effects rapidly.

What are the effects of applying Flumetralin to tobacco crops?

Visible effects can be observed within 2 hours after application, provided there is no rainfall. It not only inhibits the growth of side buds but also shows some promise in preventing tobacco mosaic virus or similar diseases to a certain extent. However, it's important to note that Flumetralin may not be effective on side buds over 2.5cm in length, and these should be removed manually before application.

When and how should Flumetralin be applied to tobacco crops?

Flumetralin is suitable for use on flue-cured tobacco, sun-dried tobacco, and cigar tobacco. The ideal application timing is during the period from the elongation of the uppermost flower bud to the initial flowering stage. Prior to application, the top of the plant should be manually removed (known as topping), and any axillary buds larger than 2.5cm should be removed. Then, within 24 hours, Flumetralin should be applied once using either spraying, cup-dripping, or direct application methods.

Cotton	Controls the growth of lateral branches and excessive elongation of the main stem, making the plant type compact. It reduces lodging risks, improves ventilation and light transmission in the field, and promotes boll development to increase yield.
Citrus	Inhibits the growth of summer shoots. Since summer shoots compete with young fruits for nutrients, controlling them helps reduce fruit drop and ensures sufficient nutrient supply for fruit development.
Other crops	It can also be applied to crops such as corn and some vegetables (in specific growth stages) to regulate plant shape, suppress invalid tillering or branching, and optimize nutrient distribution.
