Iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium is a highly effective, low-toxicity, and environmentally friendly sulfonylurea herbicide. It disrupts cell division and hinders plant growth by inhibiting the biosynthesis of essential amino acids such as valine and isoleucine. It is used to prevent and control common broadleaf weeds in wheat, barley, corn, turf, soybean, with good control effects on malicious broadleaf weeds such as mudwort (Hemistepta lyrata) and euphorbia helioscopia. It features a wide application period, a broad weed control spectrum, and high safety.

The solubility in water at 20°C, however, is significantly affected by the pH value, with 0.16g/l at pH 5, increasing to 25.0g/l at pH 7, and reaching as high as 65.0g/l at pH 9.
