Oxyfluorfen is a broad-spectrum, pre- and post-emergent herbicide used to control of Monocotyledon and broadleaf weeds in coffee, conifers, cotton, citrus. Oxyfluorfen is a diphenyl ether type contact herbicide, which can penetrate into plant tissues through the buds or seedlings of weeds, inhibiting protoporphyrinogen oxidase, leading to the destruction of cell membranes and the inhibition of photosynthesis, ultimately causing the chloroplast pigment to turn white and the cells to die. The green tissues will necrotize and turn brown, and the plants will die after a few days.
