Hexythiazox serves dual functions as both a thiodiazine - type insect growth regulator and a thiazolidinone - type acaricide. As an insect growth regulator, it shows high selectivity, strong contact - killing and stomach - poisoning effects. It effectively controls Homoptera pests like planthoppers, leafhoppers, whiteflies, and scale insects, and also targets certain Coleoptera pests. In its role as an acaricide, it penetrates the plant epidermal layer well but lacks systemic conduction. It powerfully kills eggs and young nymph mites of various plant - harmful mites, though it's ineffective against adult mites, yet can inhibit the hatching of eggs laid by exposed female adult mites. Being a non - temperature coefficient acaricide, its efficacy remains consistent across different temperatures, and it has a long residual effect. Overall, Hexythiazox demonstrates excellent control over spider mites and is widely applicable in pest management across multiple crops.

Slightly soluble in water, soluble in Ethanol, Acetone, Methanol, n-Heptane and other organic solvents.
Toxicity
The acute oral LD50 of rats and mice is > 5000 mg/kg, and the acute dermal LD50 is > 5000 mg/kg. The acute inhalation LC50 of rats is > 2 mg/L (4 hours). It has no irritating effect on the skin of rabbits, but has a slight irritating effect on the eyes. In a 2-year feeding test on rats, the no-observed-effect level is 23.1 mg/kg. No teratogenic, carcinogenic or mutagenic phenomena were found in animal tests. The LC50 of common carp is 3.7 mg/L (48 hours), the acute oral LD50 of quails is > 5000 mg/kg, and the LD50 of honeybees is > 0.2 mg per bee.

It is used to control the eggs and larvae of various mites on a diverse range of food crops. It can manage pests like  tetranychid mites, and is applicable to crops such as apples, pears, stone fruits, citrus, grapes and other fruits, nuts, turf, cotton, and cucumbers.
