Pyrazosulfuron-ethyl is a highly active, systemic, and selective sulfonylurea herbicide. It is primarily absorbed by the roots of plants and rapidly transported within the plant body. It inhibits the biosynthesis of amino acids in plants, causing the buds and roots of weeds to quickly cease growing, followed by the entire plant withering and dying. Sometimes, after application, weeds may still appear green, but their growth and development have been inhibited, rendering them unable to compete with rice. It effectively controls annual and perennial Cyperaceae and broadleaf weeds in rice paddies, such as spike rush, pondweed, bulrush, water chestnut, wild water chestnut, alisma, nutgrass, heteranthera, spike primrose-willowherb, Lindernia, rotala, and water onion.
