S-metolachlor is a isomer herbicide mixture used to control grasses and some broad-leaved weeds in a wide range of crops. it is a cell division inhibitor belonging to the chloroacetamide herbicide category, which can inhibit the synthesis of long-chain fatty acids. It can be applied to the following crops: Corn, Soybeans, Beans & Peas, Potatoes, Sugarbeet, Lupin, Sunflower, and Fruit Trees.

S-metolachlor is the active S-isomer obtained by removing the inactive R-isomer from metolachlor. It possesses all the advantages of metolachlor, and further outperforms metolachlor in terms of safety and control effect. Specifically, the efficacy of 960g/L S-metolachlor is equivalent to more than 1.6 times that of 720g/L metolachlor. Additionally, its toxicity is lower than that of metolachlor, even amounting to only one-tenth of the latter's toxicity.

It effectively controls annual weeds and certain broadleaf weeds, and is typically applied as a soil surface treatment prior to the emergence of the crops.
