Thiodicarb is a moderately toxic carbamate insecticide. It is characterized by its high efficiency, broad-spectrum activity, and low toxicity. The primary use of thiodicarb is in agriculture, where it can be widely applied to crops such as grains, cotton, vegetables, tobacco, and fruits. It primarily kills pests through stomach action, while also possessing certain contact and ovicidal capabilities. Thiodicarb causes insect death by inhibiting the cholinesterase enzyme within their bodies, and this inhibition is reversible; if the insect does not succumb to poisoning, the enzyme can recover.
