Mesosulfuron-methyl  is a post-emergence systemic selective foliar herbicide for wheat fields, targeting grass weeds and some broadleaf weeds. The active ingredient is a light yellow, finely powdered substance with a slight pungent odor. It can control weeds in wheat fields such as hard grass, poa annua, Puccinellia distans, polypogon monspeliensis, alopecurus aequalis, beckmannia syzigachne, lolium temulentum, hordeum secaline, avena fatua, phalaris canariensis, mallotus japonicus, capsella bursa-pastoris, and others. It also exhibits good control efficacy against highly invasive grass weeds such as bromus japonicus (wild barley), aegilops tauschii, and elymus repens.
